CWT Announces Herd Retirement

After reviewing a number of economic benchmarks including cull rates and cull cow prices, Cooperatives Working Together (CWT) has announced that it will conduct a herd retirement. Bids will be accepted starting Friday, May 28th with a cutoff date of Friday, June 25th.

U.S. Cheese Supply Reaches 26-Year High

Cheese inventories in the U.S. reached 1.012 billion pounds at the end of April, up 7.8% from a year earlier and now at the highest level since 1984. Restaurant sales and exports slowed during the recession, and milk production is once again increasing.
