Back In-Person & Truly Where The Dairy Industry Does Business.
The ADPI/ABI Annual Conference delivered for the dairy industry once again! After a brief in-person hiatus, this year showed that the Annual Conference is truly Where The Dairy Industry Does Business. The 2022 conference hosted over 850 attendees from 21 countries and 40 exhibitors and featured outstanding industry speakers, informative exhibits, and receptions with networking opportunities that were second to none.
Co-hosted by the American Dairy Products Institute and the American Butter Institute, this year’s event addressed the manufactured dairy product industry’s latest challenges, obstacles and opportunities with presentations from a wide range of speakers, including industry executives, research and development and logistics.
As always, the conference opened strong with standing room only as attendees gathered to hear from a meteorologist and economists on the Dairy Market Outlook. The momentum continued as senior dairy industry leaders took to the stage and provided their perspectives on challenges and opportunities currently facing the industry and the ones predicted to come.
Tuesday morning hosted an outstanding panel that shared their insight on sustainability and viability. This session appropriately titled “Sustainability: Actions Beyond Words” featured dairy farmers who highlighted the innovation they use in their operations, industry associations walked through the programs they have in place and member organizations shared what they are doing to cut-down on their carbon footprint. This was followed by a robust discussion on the Supply Chain and the continuing obstacles the industry faces.
Other topics covered at the two and half day event included Ingredient Updates and Briefings on Dry Milks, Whey Protein, Permeate, Cream, Concentrated Milks, Milkfat, Butter, Cheddar Cheese and Cream Cheese.
ADPI was proud to honor MaryAnne Drake, Ph.D., Professor of Sensory Analysis and Flavor Chemistry and an internationally recognized dairy flavors expert, as she was honored with the 2022 ADPI Award of Merit. ADPI also highlighted the achievements of four young women, Lara Maccabee, Dina Graves, Claire Sipple and Bailee Aisenbrey who were all honored as recipients of one of two ADPI Scholarships – the ADPI Jim Page Memorial Scholarship and Phillip Tong Educational Scholarship.
Meeting attendees also had the unparalleled opportunity to network with representatives from throughout the domestic and international dairy industry during amazing evening receptions which included member-provided cheese and butter as well as Chicago themed foods. In addition, 40 major suppliers to the manufactured dairy products industry exhibited their new product lines and services in the conference exhibit hall.
ADPI and ABI would like to thank all of this year’s sponsors for helping truly make this an unforgettable conference! Mark your calendars for the 2023 Annual Conference which will be held April 23 – 25, 2023 at the Sheraton Grand in Chicago, Illinois.
