About GCTF

We welcome you to the Global Cheese Technology Forum (GCTF) website. This event is an opportunity for those in the cheese and whey manufacturing industries to learn and discuss our role in today’s global economy. Perhaps we are biased because of our involvement in this industry with many of you, but we believe some of the best cheesemaking takes place right here in the western United States. 

 

The idea for the cheese forum came about as we talked about the good old days when Tony Ernstrom organized the Biennial Cheese conference at Utah State University and later on when the Marschall Italian and Specialty Cheese Conference had moved to California. We knew that just thinking about how good they were would not bring them back. So with the help of friends who then became the organizing committee, a concept was born for a conference designed for the cheese and whey industry in the western USA. This would not be a conference with academics talking about their latest research projects to each other, but a forum for discussion of topics of importance to industry leaders in the western USA and anyone with an interest in technology and the global cheese and whey industry.

 

We encourage you to make the most of these two days: learn and consider new ideas, meet friends and colleagues, engage in asking questions, and don’t forget to taste some of the great cheeses being made in our region.


We thank all those who made the past GCTF meetings a great success and are helping us build an exciting program for the future – the generous sponsors and donors, the CEOs from some of our leading companies, our speakers, and all who attended the forum last time and are planning to attend in the future. Our organizing committee and our support staff have been vital enabling us to identify topics, find speakers, and keeping the forum on schedule.

 

We look forward to meeting with you in Reno, Nevada and are doing all we can to make it an interesting and relevant place to be in October. We welcome any comments about the Global Cheese Technology Forum in our suggestion box.
