Idaho Is On Track To Become Nation’s Third Largest Milk Producer

Idaho is on track to surpass New York state as the nation’s third largest milk producer after California and Wisconsin, generating 37 million pounds each day. Since January 2014, Idaho has outpaced New York in milk production and exported $213 million in cheese, dry milk, whey, butter and lactose, a 52% increase from previous years according to the latest state numbers.

EU Widens Aid to Dairy Exporters Hit by Russia Food Ban

The European Commission has announced that it will open Private Storage Aid for butter, Skimmed Milk Powder (SMP) and certain cheeses in order to alleviate the impact of Russian restrictions on imports of EU dairy products and to limit the negative effects on the internal market. The Commission has also confirmed that the period for public intervention of butter & SMP will be extended until the end of the year.

Arla Foods Ingredients Begin Production at New Whey and Lactose Facility

It will also produce 25,000 tons of lactose annually that will be processed and sold by Arla.
