US Milk Production Up 1.4% in May

Nationally, May 2014 milk production was estimated at 18.06 billion lbs., up 1.4% from May 2013, according to USDA’s monthly report, released June 18. Although a modest increase, it is the highest monthly year-over-year gain so for in 2014.

Goodman Fielder Will Expand New Zealand UHT Milk Plant

Goodman Fielder has announced that it will expand and upgrade its ultra heat treated (UHT) milk plant in Christchurch, New Zealand, increasing its capacity to meet growth opportunities across the Asia Pacific region. The NZ$27 million project will boost production at the site by around 32 million liters per year, an increase of 50 percent on the plant’s existing UHT volume.
