Russia Removes Ban on Imports of Anhydrous Milk Fat, WPC and MPC From 29 Companies in New Zealand

Earlier this week 29 companies in New Zealand received the go ahead to resume suppling dairy product ingredients to Russia.  According to the statement made by Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance, Rosselkhoznadzor the list of ingredients permitted for import includes water free butter fat, whey protein concentrate and milk protein concentrate, which are in high demand and are not produced in Russia.

GDT Director States Auction Working As It Should

A statement released by GlobalDairyTrade (GDT) says the world’s leading online dairy auction platform is working as it should and continues to provide globally recognized market-based benchmark prices. In the announcement made August 10th, Eric Hansen, GDT Director said the August 4th auction saw an increase in the number of bidders and an increase in total demand across all products sold on the platform. “However, there remains a supply and demand imbalance in the world market and this was reflected in the prices,” said Hansen.

Land O’Lakes Withdraws From GlobalDairyTrade

GlobalDairyTrade (GDT) has announced  that Land O’Lakes has formally withdrawn from the global auction platform. Land O'Lakes who first joined GDT in March 2014 offering Skim Milk Powder, has now decided to focus resources on other sales channels for this product range. In a press release, GDT Director Eric Hansen said “We understand the reasons for Land O’Lakes decision and we would certainly welcome them back in future should they wish to utilize our service.”

CWT Assists with 2 Million Pounds of Cheese, Butter and Whole Milk Powder Export Sales

Cooperatives Working Together (CWT) has accepted 4 requests for export assistance from member cooperatives who have contracts to sell 1.764 million pounds (605 metric tons) of Cheddar cheese, 110,231 pounds (50 metric tons) of butter and 132,277 pounds (60 metric tons) of whole milk powder to customers in Asia, the Middle East, and South America.

Fonterra Cuts Milk Payout Forecast as Global Prices Slump

Fonterra Cooperative Group Ltd. has cut the amount it will pay New Zealand farmers for milk to the lowest in at least 10 years as weak demand and oversupply depress global prices. Fonterra has announced it will pay farmers NZ$3.85 ($2.53) a kilogram of milk solids in the season ending May 31, 2016. The payout is the lowest since at least 2006 and 27 percent less than Fonterra’s May 28 prediction of NZ$5.25 a kilogram.

Global Dairy Prices Fall to 13-Year-Low
