Rabobank Outlook Suggests Slow Recovery In Milk Prices

In its latest quarterly report, Rabobank sees lower milk production in all exporting countries except the US, but price increases will be hampered by present stock levels. Despite low oil prices, demand for butter and cheese continues to improve across the world apart from in the oil-producing countries.

WhiteWave Foods Shareholders Approve Acquisition by Danone

The WhiteWave Foods Company announced that during a special stockholder meeting the stockholders of the company approved the merger agreement under which Danone S.A. (“Danone”) will acquire all of the outstanding shares of WhiteWave. Stockholders also approved other proposals relating to the merger.

CWT Assists with 1.6 Million Pounds of Cheese Export Sales

Cooperatives Working Together (CWT) has accepted 10 requests for export assistance from members who have contracts to sell 1.601 million pounds (726 metric tons) of Cheddar, Gouda and Monterey Jack cheeses to customers in Asia, the Middle East, North Africa and Oceania. The product has been contracted for delivery in the period from October through December 2016.

Japan To Import 4,000 Tons of Butter

Japan’s agriculture ministry said that it will additionally import 4,000 tons of butter as raw milk production is expected to decline after unstable weather conditions. It is the first time for the ministry to make additional imports of butter twice in a fiscal year since fiscal 2014, when the item was sold out at many supermarkets and other shops.
