Danisco Makes Dairy Antimicrobial Free From Artificial Hormone

 Danisco has removed the growth hormone rBST from the supply chain for MicroGard antimicrobials in response to requests from its dairy customers. MicroGard fermentates are used in a wide range of dairy products in the US from drinks to cottage cheese as a tool to keep spoilage organisms at bay.

Milk Prices Fall for Second Month on Increased Supply

Milk powder prices fell for a second month as production in Europe and the U.S. increased and concerns eased that drought would reduce global supplies, Fonterra Cooperative Group Ltd. has stated. Whole milk powder for April delivery declined 2.5 percent to $3,200 a metric ton, according to data on the Auckland-based company’s GlobalDairyTrade Web site. Prices fell for the first time in six months in January, having reached a 16-month high in December. The April contract is up 74 percent from a year ago.
