CWT Assists with 3.7 Million Pounds of Cheese, Butter and Whole Milk Powder Export Sales

Cooperatives Working Together (CWT) has accepted seven requests for export assistance to sell 174,165 pounds (79 metric tons) of Cheddar cheese, 3.417 million pounds (1550 metric tons) of butter and 88,185 pounds (40 metric tons) of whole milk powder to customers in Asia, Central America, the Middle East, North Africa and Oceania. The product has been contracted for delivery in the period from August through November 2016.

Dairy Prices up 6.6% at GlobalDairyTrade Auction

A strong bounce in global dairy prices at auction suggested dairy might finally be beginning to recover, giving hope to farmers. The August 2nd Global Dairy Trade auction showed dairy prices rose 6.6 percent to an average of $2,436 per ton with whole milk powder surging 9.9 percent to an average of $2,265. This dairy price percent gain was the most since October 2015.

USDA: Milk Powder Prices May Be In Early Stages of Recovery

In its latest report on the global dairy market, the USDA has suggested milk powder prices may finally be in the early stages of a recovery. Although they remain weak overall, whole milk powder prices have shown modest but steady improvement since February, primarily due to improved import demand from China.
