CWT Assists with Half a Million Pounds of Cheese Export Sales

FDA Responds to GRAS Notice for MPC and MPI

The American Dairy Products Institute (ADPI) is happy to announce that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has responded favorably to a notice submitted by ADPI and the U.S. Dairy Export Council (USDEC) regarding the GRAS status of milk protein concentrate (MPC) and milk protein isolate (MPI) for multiple uses in a wide variety of food categories .

Whole Milk Powder Leads Fresh Fall in Dairy Prices

As the GlobalDairyTrade (GDT) recorded yet another drop at the December 2nd auction, world dairy prices are now half that of what they were in February of this year. In February, the summary price was $5,042 a ton and by the December 2 auction it has fallen to $2,513 a ton.

ADPI Members Partner with DMI To Boost Milk Sales

Dairy industry members including ADPI members Dairy Farmers of America, Darigold/Northwest Dairy Association, and Maryland & Virginia Milk Producers Cooperative Association have launched a $500 million advertising campaign to boost milk sales, in an effort to reverse sales declines in an increasingly crowded beverage market. Darigold President and CEO, Jim Wegner Announces Retirement

Swiss Valley Plans Major Expansion of Iowa Cheese Plant

Swiss Valley Farms has announced a $20.6 million expansion of its cheese manufacturing facility based in Luana, Iowa. Once completed, the expansion is expected to double the natural cheese production capacity and give the company the flexibility to produce new cheese varieties and sizes, such as Maasdam, Havarti and Muenster. This will also increase the production of Cream Cheese and Whey.

Danone Sells Indonesian Dairy Business for $20M

Indofood Group's Indofood CBP Sukses Makmur has acquired 100% of Danone Dairy Indonesia, the company's liquid milk business in the country, for $20.53 million. The deal includes Danone's Indonesian trademark and design for the Milkuat brand and will increase production capacity to allow the company to meet growing demand for dairy in western Indonesia, Indofood CBP said.
