Saputo Implements Progressive Animal Welfare Policy across Global Operations

One of the world’s top 10 dairy processors calls for zero tolerance for any act of animal cruelty and an end to tail docking. Montreal-based Saputo Inc. has announced the implementation of a progressive Animal Welfare Policy and recent agreements concluded with the University of Guelph (Canada) and the University of Wisconsin-Madison (USA).

Prabhat Dairy Sets Up New Lines of Production for Value-Added Products

Prabhat Dairy, an integrated milk and dairy products company, has set up new lines of production for value-added milk-based products such as cheese, paneer (cottage cheese) and shrikhand at its Shrirampur facility in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra. The plant is expected to commence commercial production of these products in fiscal 2016.

FrieslandCampina will fuel its new production site in Borculo using certified renewable pyrolysis oil with very low immediate carbon emissions. FrieslandCampina started building the site for milk powder and high-grade ingredients for children’s foods in Borculo in 2013. The production site has a processing capacity of 750 million kilos of milk. “It is FrieslandCampina’s ambition to provide the growing world population with dairy, which is a key ingredient in a person’s basic diet. At the same time, we want our production methods to be sustainable and efficient. By using a renewable energy source such as pyrolysis oil, we are taking the next step towards climate-neutral growth," stated Roelof Joosten, COO of FrieslandCampina Ingredients.
