CWT Assists with 2 Million Pounds of Cheese and Butter Export Sales

Cooperatives Working Together (CWT) has accepted 13 requests for export assistance to sell 1.989 million pounds (902 metric tons) of Cheddar cheese, and 55,116 pounds (25 metric tons) of butter to customers in Asia, the Middle East, North Africa, South America and the South Pacific.

Land O’Lakes has announced a strong second-quarter performance with net earnings up 27 percent over a year ago. The Arden Hills-based farmers cooperative reported net earnings of $96.4 million on sales of $4.04 billion for the quarter ended June 30. Sales rose 6.6 percent over last year’s second quarter.

Chinese WMP Imports To Reach 1 Million Tons in 2014

According to the latest Dairy: World Markets and Trade report released by the USDA Chinese imports of whole and skim milk powder are optimistically forecast to grow by 61% and 40% respectively. Total WMP imports are forecast to reach 1 million tons, while SMP imports are forecast at 330,000 tons for 2014.

Russia Bans All Dairy and Milk from Ukraine

A ban on the import of all dairy products and milk from Ukraine came into force in Russia on July 28th. The Russian agency in charge of agricultural products said it would ban imports of Ukrainian dairy because of numerous quality flaws found in its products.
