EU Approves Merger between Milk Link and Arla Foods

The European Commission has given the green light to the planned merger of Arla Foods and Milk Link – a deal set to create the UK’s biggest dairy company. The merger will officially complete on October 1, 2012, forging a business with a combined annual turnover of £2bn, with Milk Link’s business folded into Arla’s UK arm.

New Three-Dryer Milk Processing Plant Planed for Canterbury

Westland Milk Products' has taken yet another step into the Canterbury patch with plans to build a three-dryer milk processing plant. Subject to consents being granted, Westland will process raw milk into nutritional milk products such as infant formula, and growing-up milk powders, for domestic and international markets.

The merger between German Milch-Union Hocheifel (MUH) and Arla Foods has today been approved by the EU competition authorities. The merger is now set to take effect on October 1, 2012. The merger will strengthening Arla Foods’ position as one of Europe’s leading dairy groups. The growth also goes hand in hand with Arla’s Strategy 2015, the key objective of which is to improve returns for its owners.
