 USDA Foreign Agriculture Service Announces September 2008 Export Figures  
Exports of WPC
 
Foreign Agricultural Service reports that during January - September 2008, exports of WPC 34% under Schedule B code 0404100500 totaled 56.3 kilotons (kt) or 124 million pounds, a decrease of 11% compared to January – September 2007. Exports to Mexico (17.7 kt), China (14.0 kt) and Canada (5.8 kt) accounted for 67% of all the WPC 34% exported in 2008. Exports during September 2008 totaled 5.5 kt, an 11% decrease compared to August 2008.   January - September 2008 exports of WPC 80% totaled 8.8kt (19.5 million pounds), a decrease of 25% compared to the same time span in 2007. Exports to Canada (1.9 kt), China (1.4 kt) and Mexico (.8 kt) accounted for 47% of all the WPC 80% exported in 2008. Exports during September 2008 totaled 1.0 kt, a 26%

Exports of Dry Whey
 
Foreign Agricultural Service reports that January - September 2008 dried whey exports under Schedule B code 0404104000 totaled 334.6 million pounds. This export total is a decrease of just over 25% compared to exports during the same time span in 2007. Leading world regional destinations, amounts shipped, and year to year percentage changes in amounts shipped are as follows: East Asia, 127.1 million pounds (-18%); Southeast Asia, 96.8 million pounds (+1%); North America, 51.7 million pounds (-63%) and South America, 14.7 million pounds (+32%). 
 
Exports of Lactose
 
Foreign Agricultural Service reports that January - September 2008 lactose exports under Schedule B code 1702110000 totaled 71.3 kilotons (kt) (157.3 million pounds). This is an increase in exports of 2% compared to January - September 2007. The top three lactose export destinations for the first nine months of 2008 and 2007/2008 percent changes in exports amounts are Japan (14.2 kt, -20%), China (12.8 kt, +28%) and Mexico (4.6 kt, -46%). Lactose exports during September 2008 total 6.3 kt, a 17% decrease from the previous month.


Exports of Dry Whole Milk

 
According to the Foreign Agricultural Service, January - September 2008 dry whole milk and cream exports under Schedule B code 0402210000 increased 252% to 23.6 kilotons (kt)(52.0 million pounds) compared to the same time period in 2007. Dry whole milk and cream exports during the above time span to Mexico (8.1 kt), Russian Federation (2.5 kt) and Dominican Republic (1.5 kt) account for 51% of the total dry whole milk and cream exports during January - September 2008. September 2008 exports of dry whole milk and cream reached 1.9 kt, a 32% decrease from the previous month.
 
Exports of NDM
 
Foreign Agricultural Service reports that January - September 2008 exports of nonfat dry milk under Schedule B code 0402100000 total 330.5 kilotons (kt) (728.5 million pounds). This is a 77% increase over 2007 exports during the same 9 months. September 2008 nonfat dry milk exports decreased about 25% compared to August 2008 exports, and total 29.2 kilotons. Mexico, the Philippines and Indonesia accounted for about 53% (176.2 kt) of all NDM exports this year, and about 68% (20 kt) of exports for the month of September. The leading regional destinations for nonfat dry milk exports through September 2008, total quantities shipped, and year to year percentage changes are: Southeast Asia, 270.3 million pounds (+49%), North America, 224.2 million pounds (+67%) and North Africa, 75.6 million pounds (+117%).
