India’s Trade Balance for Dairy Products

India’s trade balance for dairy products was positive during the month of June 2012. This was driven by an increase in the volume of casein exports along with a small volume of skim milk powder (SMP) being exported, rather than imported.

Imports of lactose also fell during the month of June 2012. India’s largest market for the month of June 2012 was the US. Most of the casein exported from India in June was destined to the US. Other main export markets for India’s dairy products include: Pakistan, Afghanistan, United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia.
