 Milk Production Slows in Australia

Milk production in January 2013 was 5.5% less than the corresponding month in 2012 across most of Austalia. The only region to still show any year on year growth during January was Northern Victoria. But even here the rate of growth has slowed a lot since earlier in the year.

On a season to date basis (Jul 2012 –Jan 2013) milk production is trailing the previous season by 0.3%. On a year to date basis the main dairy exporting state of Victoria is still showing growth of 0.5%. This was a result of strong milk flows in the Northern Victoria region earlier in the season.
