 Fonterra Reduces Forecasted Auction Volumes  

Fonterra has slashed the volume of product that it plans to offer on GDT over the next six months. The volume of whole milk powder (WMP) to be offered has dropped by 15% or 24,470t to 135,680t. 

The drop in Fonterra GDT offerings are due to a reduction in the volume of milk that it expects to collect this season. The company now expects to only  collect 1532 million kilograms of milksolids this season, 3.3% less than last season.

Fonterra had previously forecast to sell a lower volumes of product on GDT than in previous seasons, therefore the amount of WMP that Fonterra now plans to offer in the February to July 2015 period is 42% less than they offered last season.

Skim milk powder (SMP) volumes have also been reduced, but by a lesser degree.

February 3, 2015 auction
At the February 3 auction Fonterra now plans to offer 16,050t of WMP just 800t less than previously forecast and 2000t less than at the previous auction.

SMP volumes remains as previously forecast at 3,150t. Anhydrous milkfat (AMF) volumes have been reduced by 150t to 2800 and the butter offering has been reduced by 75t to 1700t.
12-month forecasts
For the year ahead, total forecast volumes offered have been lowered by 0.68%. Fonterra currently plans to offer 814,050 tonnes of product on GDT in the coming 12 months.

WMP volumes have been reduced by 24,470t to 470,780t. SMP volumes have fallen by 2,650t to 136,350. Fonterra forecasts that 73,700t of AMF will be available on GDT over the next 12 months and 50,100t of butter. The forecasts for AMF and butter have been reduced by 1,500t and 1,100t respectively.
