Australian Cheese and Skim Milk Powder Increase During First Quarter of 2015

Australian production of cheese and skim milk powder (SMP) have both increased  during the first quarter of 2015.

Cheese production is up 12.4% in the nine months to March 2015 while SMP production is up 13.4%.

During March 25,845t of cheese was manufactured in Australia, 14.4% more than during the previous March. SMP production has been tracking ahead throughout the season but this has come at the expense of whole milk powder (WMP) production. SMP output in March gained 5.8% while WMP production dropped 2.2%. WMP production is now 26.2% down for the season to date.
Whey powder production is also trailing last season by 6.2% with output well down during March 2015.
